Enneagram of Essence

A somatic and archetypal approach to wholeness

Where insight becomes sensation

The Enneagram of Essence explores personality, embodiment, and the felt sense of essence.

This is a somatic and archetypal approach to the Enneagram that brings a body-based, experiential layer to the familiar teachings of the nine types. It focuses on how these patterns are lived and felt in the body—in both their discomfort and their movement toward nourishment and wholeness.

Personality is not the whole of who we are, but a pattern the body and psyche develop in their attempt to stay connected to something essential.

Each Enneagram pattern reflects a deeper longing: a lived need for something real, such as safety, connection, freedom, or worth.

Over time, the nervous system organizes around ways of seeking that experience. These patterns become familiar and automatic, shaping what we recognize as type.

This approach invites us to notice these patterns in the body and become curious about their texture—how the system contracts, protects, reaches, or settles.
