Are you a practicing clinician who understands the Enneagram but finds it challenging to integrate it into your therapeutic practice beyond providing insight?
The Enneagram, with roots in the psychoanalytic tradition, offers profound psychological insights but lacks specific clinical techniques. This gap often leaves therapists searching for ways to incorporate this powerful tool with contemporary, evidence-based modalities.
Our six-week series is designed to bridge this gap. Through an integrative approach, this training treats the Enneagram not just as a tool for insight but as a comprehensive model that views the types as archetypal aspects of our wholeness.
Grounded in both psychological and somatic understanding, this approach recognizes that Enneagram structures are not only mental and emotional but also deeply embodied. By engaging with the body’s wisdom, we can unlock deeper transformation, allowing the Enneagram’s insights to be experienced on a more profound, physical level.
Purpose of the Series
This series empowers therapists by providing practical tools to integrate the Enneagram’s theories into clinical work. By incorporating archetypal and somatic modalities, we can transform the Enneagram into a more effective therapeutic model.
Target Audience
This training is for clinicians familiar with the Enneagram who seek practical methods to apply it therapeutically. It’s designed for those ready to enhance their toolkit by integrating the Enneagram with modern neuroscience and somatic approaches to support deeper client growth.

Weeks 1-3: The Enneagram as an Archetypal Model
Exploring Universal Archetypes:
Discover how the Enneagram parallels Jungian Archetypes and Internal Family Systems (IFS). We’ll explore how these models reflect universal patterns in the human experience, deepening your understanding of each Enneagram type as a manifestation of these archetypes.Integrating Wholeness:
Identify and integrate the principles of wholeness and integration across these models. We’ll delve into areas where the Enneagram often lacks depth, taking inspiration from the holistic approaches of Jungian psychology, tantric practices, and IFS to create a more comprehensive model of human experience.Practical Application:
Learn to apply the Enneagram as a model for wholeness in your therapeutic practice. This includes focusing on the archetype present in each session, rather than just the client’s primary type, encouraging more curious, holistic questioning, and fostering deeper client growth.
Weeks 4-6: The Enneagram as a Somatic Model
Somatic Enneagram:
Explore the latest developments in somatic Enneagram work, emphasizing how personality structures are embedded in the nervous system. This section integrates insights from somatic psychology and neuroscience, particularly the work of Dan Siegel and Peter Levine.Essence Embodiment Modality:
Delve into advanced somatic techniques, particularly from Somatic Experiencing®. You’ll learn to work with the "felt sense" of each essence, addressing core issues of each Enneagram type in a deeply transformative way. This approach will help you guide clients in experiencing the nourishing qualities of essence while they work through somatic personality structures.

Participants
This series is designed for clinicians with an active practice. Participants should be actively seeing clients, as we will use client examples (with strict confidentiality) as part of the learning process.
-
Enneagram Knowledge: Participants must be familiar with the Enneagram types. This series assumes prior knowledge of the 3 centers and 9 types, as the focus will be on applying practical techniques for working with each type. You may find the content challenging if you do not have this foundational understanding.
Somatics and Archetypal Work: No prior training in Somatics or Archetypal Work (e.g., Jung or IFS) is required. These models will be used as inspiration for Enneagram work, and I will provide all necessary explanations to apply their underlying principles.
-
Clinicians already using the Enneagram in their practice who are looking to deepen and elevate their existing work.
Peers interested in a collaborative and co-creative learning environment, where knowledge is shared and insights are developed together.
Note to Students: If you are a student not yet in practice, please reach out. I am happy to plan a similar series tailored for a cohort like you.
Hi, I’m Tammy
My Enneagram journey started in childhood, introduced by my mother, Lissa Friedman, PhD, a teacher with Oscar Ichazo's Arica School in the 80s and 90s. Over the past 25 years, I've also studied under leading Enneagram figures like A. H. Almaas, Sandra Maitri, Helen Palmer, and others. I'm certified by the Enneagram Embodiment Tradition® and accredited by the International Enneagram Association (IEA).
I developed "Essence Embodiment," a unique modality that merges the Enneagram's mystical theories with modern somatic psychology and neuroscience. My professional journey began with a decade at the Veterans Administration, where I led teams and developed innovative programs. In 2008, I transitioned into private practice, focusing on integrative and holistic psychotherapy.
Over the years, my clinical practice has increasingly embraced a somatic approach, grounded in psychological modalities studied with Fran Booth, Dan Siegel, and Peter Levine, alongside spiritual embodiment practices learned under Sally Kempton.
For the past decade, I have run accredited Enneagram training programs, integrating these approaches into a comprehensive therapeutic model.

The Enneagram is deeply intertwined with archetypal patterns that reflect universal aspects of human experience.
Drawing from Jungian psychology, principles of Internal Family Systems (IFS), and sacred embodiment, this approach recognizes each Enneagram type as an expression of broader, universal archetypes. These archetypes shape our behavior, emotions, and perceptions, guiding our interactions with the world.
By understanding the Enneagram through this lens, therapists can tap into the deeper needs and universal (and somatic) drives of their clients, facilitating more profound growth.
Key aspects include:
Jungian Archetypes: Explore how the Enneagram parallels the archetypes identified by Carl Jung, providing a bridge between psychological theory and spiritual insight.
Internal Family Systems (IFS): Recognize the interplay of various internal parts, or sub-personalities, within the Enneagram framework, helping clients achieve greater internal harmony.
Sacred Embodiment: Inspired by the teachings of the Tantra tradition, this aspect emphasizes the integration of sacred qualities within each Enneagram type. By connecting with these deeper, transformative energies, clients can access the higher potentials of their type.
-
The body holds the key to understanding and transforming the patterns associated with each Enneagram type.
Inspired by the work of leaders in somatic psychology, including Peter Levine and Dan Siegel, this approach emphasizes that our Enneagram patterns are not only mental and emotional but also deeply embodied.
The nervous system, shaped by early experiences and ongoing stressors, plays a critical role in how these patterns manifest and maintain themselves.
Key aspects include:
Somatic Experiencing®: Learn how the Enneagram structures are stored in the body and how somatic practices can help release these patterns.
Neuroscience and the Enneagram: Discover how the brain’s structure and function hold the Enneagram patterns.
Embodiment Practices: Engage in practical exercises that connect the Enneagram’s psychological insights with physical awareness, allowing clients to experience deep, transformative healing.
Essence Embodiment: Explore my unique modality that integrates the sacred qualities of each Enneagram type with somatic awareness, helping clients engage with the nourishing essence at the core of their being for transformative healing.
"Archetypes are a living system of innate psychic structures that determine how human experiences manifest universally and timelessly."
— Carl Jung
